Mad-Ness

Art by Cheryl Russell.

"Mad-Ness stands as a rare self-portrait, encapsulating the emotive essence women’s response to the patriarchal system. While painting this series, a pivotal news event triggered a surge of emotions - anger, fear, and betrayal. In response, I went outside and vocalized my frustration, and captured the source photo in that moment. This artwork resonates, expressing the collective feelings many of us, across genders, hold towards the persistent systemic challenges birthed by a patriarchal society.

Part of the F*ck the Patriarchy subseries."
